MORNING WALK

We will start the day in contact with nature, going for a walk through the rural environment, through the paths between fields. Halfway through, we’ll stop to work on breathing, muscle mobility and stretching exercises. With this walk we will awaken the body, listening and the senses.

BODY MIND CENTERING ®

BMC is a psycho – corporal practice based on experiential anatomy and childhood psychomotor development.
In this practice of embodiment we will observe different body systems (their function, quality of expression and wisdom) from which we listen and give personal and creative expression to our bodies and they matters.

In this workshop we will pay special attention to the actual patterns of our bodies and movements, and also to other structures that belong to our embrionary life. We will use the exploration of movements, the touch-contact, the voice / vibration and the richness of artistic materials, to explore, express and integrate our mind-body unity and directing our unique essence. We will explore ways to inhabit our bodies and the relationship with others.

The experiential study of Mind Centering encompasses all body systems: bone structure, nervous system, muscles, organs, fluids, connective tissues, ligaments, endocrine system, as well as perception, reflexes and embryology. It is a method developed by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen.

“There is something that is expressed in nature in the form of patterns. We, as part of nature, we also form patterns. The mind is like the wind and the body like sand, if you want to know how the wind is blowing, look at the sand”.

 (Bonnie Bainbridge, BMC)

AVAILABLE BODY Anatomy, awareness and movement

We will start working on the anatomical study of the body. From an experiential work and palpation, visualization, sensitization and mobilization exercises, we will take conscience of the own bone and articulate structure, as well as of the muscular activity.

We will go from anatomy to sensory perception and from it, to work in relation to different movement patterns and coordinations. We will learn from exploration and self-discovery from very specific and other more open guidelines, and also from small sequences and actions of movement.

We will focus on the motors involved in the movement, the organization and relationships that the body establishes, as well as the different ways to go through a gesture, a movement. Through a fine and deep listening we will work individually and with the help of various materials and partners to find more freedom of action, efficiency and quality in the movement.

It is a work that integrates diverse learning, such as the Anatomy for the Movement of Blandine Calais, aspects of the Feldenkrais Method, of Self-consciousness for the Movement and the work of Improvisation of the Dance.

DANCE  THEATER  Moving myself with my characters

We are used to identifying ourselves with a unique way of being: I am like that! and this unique version of oneself, this unique character probably limits our wide range of possibilities to act and move in life. In a playful way and through the expressive movement, improvisations, music, theatrical games, dance, active meditation, free writing, sound and voice, we will bring to the stage those characters, hidden behind the ‘drop scene’ of our unique personality. We incarnate ourselves in “them” or, rather, in our unknowns, discovering their movements, thoughts and words and their way of relating to other characters.

Moving in a body that we may not recognize and letting ourselves be surprised by it will help us to update ourselves and become more open, free and creative beings.

AUTHENTIC MOVEMENT

From a circle of people that contains an empty space available I move and I let myself be moved by my internal impulses. Silence is the music. The closed eyes are the guide towards the unexpected, unknown or known movement, towards my internal listening that moves, that emits sound. You look at me, you are testimony of my experience without judgments, without prejudice. My trip is your trip. Your trip is my trip.

Authentic Movement is a wonderful practice, which without stimulation of external music and with closed eyes, allows a deep connection with our inner self, which we perhaps do not know and which needs to be expressed, taking shape through movement, sound and of all the impulses that arise in absolute freedom of expression. A deeply creative experience that starts from one’s own body and the present moment.

IMPROVISATION – CREATION

In the first part of  this session we will introduce tools and resources from a creative level that will help us to increase our creative and expressive capacities, through the body and movement. We will pay attention to the textures and physical qualities of the body and movement (energy, weight, force) and to the relation between movement and space, time, and the other peers.

In the second half of the session we will  to give form and expression to feelings, impulses, energies and images, that have emerged during the days  at Som(a) Dansa.

MEDITATION – MINDFULNESS

We will work on our ability to pay attention to the experience of the present moment with interest, curiosity and acceptance.
